The search problem

Regional classifieds and local marketplace apps each have their own search habits, city structures, and native alert behavior. Build platform-specific searches for Gumtree, Craigslist, Trade Me, Kijiji, and OfferUp instead of assuming one keyword set will behave the same everywhere.

A practical alert setup

Regional classifieds need platform-specific setup. Craigslist starts with the city board and can send a distance only for a US ZIP or another known centre. Kijiji sends a radius only when the selected Canadian place resolves to a known centre. Trade Me uses New Zealand regions and districts, not a radius. Gumtree AU and UK use their own fixed distance choices. OfferUp uses approximate 5, 10, 20, 30, or 50 mile settings. Build separate searches when one keyword set or geographic model would hide those differences.

Extra tuning notes

Each platform rewards a different setup. Craigslist searches should start with the city board and category. Kijiji searches should keep the Canadian place and category clear. Trade Me searches need the New Zealand region and district that match the item. Gumtree searches depend on a native distance choice and seller wording. OfferUp searches usually work best with the nearest approximate native distance and exclusions for accessories or related items after you review the first matches. Multi-platform monitoring helps most when those differences are planned instead of forcing every platform into one identical rule.
